Last month, teachers at Green Valley Middle School in Los Angeles, California, did something wonderful for their students. They took time out of their busy schedules to surprise each student with a personalized note about their love for reading and the importance of books. The students’ reactions were captured on video, showing smiles, surprised faces, and expressions of thanks. The video quickly went popular on the Internet.
In the video, a teacher tells a student, “I’ve chosen you because you always bring a book to class and share interesting ideas. That’s why I enjoy teaching you.” When Emma heard this, she couldn’t stop smiling.
The idea for this project came from Mr. Harris, a teacher who believes that books are key to helping students grow. “I wanted to show them that books are more than just something to read,” Mr. Harris explained. “Books can help us dream big, solve problems, and learn about the world.”
Many students felt proud to receive such a thoughtful message. “I always loved reading, but hearing that my teacher noticed it made me feel even more special,” said one of the students in the video. “Books are like a window into a new world,” said another student, adding, “Now I know my love for books is something my teacher appreciates.”
