Your body needs lots of different foods to stay healthy. A food pyramid (金字塔) shows the different food groups and how much of each we need to have a healthy diet. Eating the right amount from each food group is called eating a balanced (均衡的) diet.
Eating well is important for all of us. In the short term (短期), it can help us to feel good, look our best and stay at a healthy weight. In the long term, a healthy and balanced diet can reduce our risk (风险) of heart disease and other diseases as well.
Different countries have different food pyramids. In many countries, the food pyramid organizes (组织) food into five main shelves—a shelf for each food group. The most important shelf is on the bottom and the least important is on the top.
What's usually on the shelves of a food pyramid? You don't have to make each of your meals perfectly balanced. It's fine if you balance it out over the whole day or even a week.

7. Do you think people in your country follow the food pyramid? Why or why not? What changes would you make to improve people's diets?
This can be different in each country or area.
