Baby kangaroos (袋鼠) are called joeys. While grown kangaroos can be as tall as people, newborn joeys are as small as beans and weigh just a gram or two. A newborn joey is hairless and its eyes are closed. As soon as a joey is born, it climbs into its mother's pouch (育儿袋). It stays there and drinks milk there for months. During this period its eyes open, and it grows hair. Soon it looks less like a bean and more like a small kangaroo.
At about four months old, a joey begins peeking out (微露出) of its mother's pouch. It stays in the pouch to drink its mother's milk, but it also starts to learn about the outside world. Sometimes when its mother eats grass, a joey will taste the grass, too.
When a joey is about six months old, it begins to take short trips away from its mother. It learns to jump, but quickly returns to its mother's pouch.
By the time it is eight months old, it is able to leave the pouch and stand on its own. Over the next few months, the joey will spend more time out of the pouch. But it will still come back sometimes and put its head into the mother's pouch to have a drink.
1. How much does a newborn joey weigh?

2. What does a joey do after it is born?

3. When does a joey start to learn about the outside world?
