Emma, a 13-year-old girl, is playing with a ball with her brother Tony. The ball goes into the street and Emma runs after it. But she doesn't see a car coming and the car hits(撞) her. Tony feels afraid and calls 120. After 10 minutes, they take Emma to the hospital.
In the hospital, Emma is in a coma. Her family come to see her every day and talk to her, but she never talks to them. She just sleeps.
One day, Emma's father says, "Wake up(醒来), Emma. Let's go home and play with Max. " Max is Emma's cat. When her father says Max's name, Emma moves her hand. Her father keeps talking about Max, and Emma moves her hand again.
Emma's parents have an idea. They bring Max to the hospital the next day. When Max touches(触摸) her hand, Emma opens her eyes.
From then on, Max goes to the hospital every day to play with Emma. He makes her happy. One day, Max scratches(抓伤) her hand. Emma says her first words, "Bad cat!"
