Generally speaking, vocational school students with school spirit get better grades, are more interested in social problems, and are happier than their less spirited schoolmates. These findings were part of an online survey (调查) of vocational school students, parents, and teachers. This survey involved (涉及) about 1,000 people. The research tried to discover how school spirit is connected to the way vocational school students learn, lead, and grow.
School spirit involves students' pride in their school, their tendency (倾向) to get other students to be active in school events, and their plans to return to their schools for special events after graduation.
The survey showed that the higher the students' school spirit, the greater their academic achievement and the happier they are. And this was supported by comments of nearly all the teachers.
“When students feel a sense of school spirit, they tend to be more involved in the great opportunities in their schools,” noted one female teacher. “If they have a lower level of such spirit, they are not involved in many activities, and they tend to blame the school. Students who are achieving at a higher level tend to participate in different events, activities, and athletics on site.”
