On December 2nd, I joined in my first concert. Although I've played the piano since I was 5, I've 1 never performed in front of people — except for (除了) competitions.
I had never 2 to perform using a percussion instrument (打击乐器). There was no space in the school's piano class so I joined the percussion class. There were just four students in the class. It meant that we would make a small percussion ensemble (合奏). The teacher asked me to play the bass drum (低音鼓), while my classmates needed to play many kinds of instruments. Even though everyone regarded playing the bass drum as 3 part of all the music pieces, I didn't think so.
The first class was about 4 bass pieces, but I did as badly as I imagined. I was unable 5 my teacher's words. I was used to reading music notes in Chinese, but I had no idea what they meant in English. Once my teacher stopped while we were practicing, I knew I had done something wrong.
Luckily, my teacher was really 6. "Just pay attention to your piece," he always said to me when I was nervous. The day finally came, and the 7 wasn't bad. When I hit the drums at a quick speed, I was 8. The sounds from the four of us percussionists were beautiful.
I didn't stop 9 the percussion instrument, because I had fallen in love with the amazing sound. Everyone coming together to make something beautiful was one of the best 10 I would never forget in my life.
