Michelangelo (1475–1564)
Michelangelo was one of the greatest artists in the world. He was a very talented sculptor, painter, architect, poet and engineer. His most famous sculpture, David, is thought to be one of the greatest works of art in the world.
Michelangelo was born in Italy on 6 March 1475. His star sign was Pisces. According to the Chinese lunar calendar, he was born in the Year of the Sheep. Like many people born in the Year of the Sheep and under the star sign of Pisces, Michelangelo was very imaginative. He was also creative enough to become one of the world’s greatest artists. He cared about the small details of things. This certainly helped him produce beautiful art.
Michelangelo was a simple and peaceful man. He spent most of his time on his work. He cared little about his daily life. Sometimes he only had a meal of some pieces of bread. Sometimes he slept with his shoes on. He once told his assistant, “However rich I may have been, I’ve always lived like a poor man.”
B2 Daniel is taking some notes about Michelangelo. Use the article on page 3 to help him complete the table.
