As the saying goes, "To see China's 500 years, please go to Beijing. To see China's 5,000 years, please come to Xi'an." Why do people think so? You can find it out from my visit to Xi'an.
Day one
Morning: We started our tour with a visit to the Shaanxi History Museum. It opened in 1991. And it is China's first modern national museum. The visit lasted for about two hours. We saw a collection of over 300,000 things. They tell the history far from the Bronze Age (青铜器时代) to the modern times.
Afternoon: ▲ So, after lunch, we went to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (大雁塔). It was built in 652 AD. It is the place that stores (保存) the books that Xuanzang brought back from India. We knew about the stories of him and his journey to India there.
Day two
Morning: We went to the great wonder—the Terracotta Warriors. It was built about 2,200 years ago. The warriors are still standing to guard (守卫) the First Emperor of Qin. We were surprised by them.
Afternoon: We visited the Xi'an City Wall. It was first built in 1370 and finished in 1378. It is said that it is the best-preserved (保存最完好的) old city wall in China. When we walked on the top of it, we saw the whole city of Xi'an below. I felt like I was back to the ancient times.
While visiting the old city, I felt proud (自豪) of the history of the old city, even that of our great country.
