B
One day, in the class meeting, Miss Lin, our headteacher, asked us to write down our dreams on the paper. “On the paper, tell me what you want to be when you grow up,” she said.
“I want to be an artist and draw beautiful paintings,” said Li Nan.
“I want to be a writer and write books for people to read,” said Han Mei.
“I want to be a musician and I want to work in different countries,” said Zhou Ming.
All of the children were thrilled — except (除了) Gao Ya.
“I can’t make up my mind,” she said. “I want to do a lot of things. I want to work in a store and sell things; I want to be a baseball player and make a baseball team; or I’ll be a milkman and bring milk to every family like my father. My dreams are small, not as big as my classmates’.”
Miss Lin smiled, “Your dreams are all great, no matter(无论) how small they’re. Now write down all your dreams. One day, they will come true.”

Boys and girls choose jobs differently. To find out how different their choices are, we made a survey in Green High School. We asked students to choose their dream jobs from the following: teachers, doctors, reporters, engineers and scientists. Here are the results.
According to the survey, we find 45% of girls would like to be teachers, but only 5% of boys choose teachers as their future jobs. Maybe that is because girls are usually more patient than boys. And most boys think being a teacher is boring.
About 50% of boys and girls like to be doctors, They think doctors are helpful and they like to help others.
About 30% of boys and 25% of girls choose reporters because they think being a reporter is exciting.
Many boy students think scientists and engineers are great jobs. But few girls choose them because they think the jobs of scientists and engineers are boring.
We are glad to see so many students have clear ideas about what jobs they would like to have in the future. We hope all of their dreams will come true some day.
