When you are traveling in France, you may see a Chinese young girl playing the guzheng on the street. You may lose yourself in her beautiful music.
The girl is Peng Jingxuan, from Huaihua, Hunan Province. Peng dreamed to be a musician when she was young. At the age of seven, she began to study guzheng. She was very interested in playing this traditional Chinese musical instrument.
To follow her dream, she went to France to study music in 2017. When she was in France, she was surprised to find that very few people in France knew about guzheng. “I want to make more people know this instrument,” Peng said. She began to do street performances(表演). She was proud of sharing Chinese music and culture with more people.
To help people in France know this traditional Chinese musical instrument better, Peng carefully chose and arranged(安排) each song. She chose traditional guzheng pieces and some pop songs with strong Chinese influences(影响).
“The biggest wish of Chinese artists playing the traditional Chinese musical instruments is to let more people know about them, understand them, and love them ...” she said.

Their hard work paid off when the girls won their first big award(奖) over the men’s team in 2021. They had more wins and this made them popular in the lion dance community. Today, the team has over 20 girls aged 7 to 9.
