B
No one could know my little brother better than me in the world. Since the moment of his birth, I’ve been part of his life.
When Robin came into this world, I was only a second-grade girl and have spent nine happy years with the attention of those people around me. I only cared about my own life and couldn’t even begin to understand what this change in my life meant. Life changed at that time. There were no more bedtime stories or my own choice of food. What’s more, I had to share my toys with him, which made me feel so angry that I began to hate him. But in his eyes, maybe I was just a strange sister — the only person in this house who did not like him.
Little by little, I became responsible for another human being. Sometimes I had to play with him, fed him and took him for walks. It seemed that I had lost myself. How I wish he could leave me alone forever!
But the poor baby had no idea what had made me so unhappy. Whatever the reason was, he loved following me around. And I must be there for him.
Then all that changed. I hardly remember everything of that day, but I do remember that I was feeling very angry. Then I found myself in my brother’s room. I couldn’t help reaching out my hand through the bars (栏杆) of his bed. At once, he reached out his small hand and softly touched mine. And that was all I needed. That moment changed everything. How could I hate someone who made me feel so important? For the first time, I saw my brother through the eyes of a sister.
Now, Robin is 7 years old. I can’t imagine life without him. I begin to realize that at such a young age, I am going to be a role model in his life. But before this, Robin has taught me that one should not care for oneself only.
