B
Eric is five years old. He is looking at a photo of his family.
“Who are the two old people in the photo?” Eric asks his mother.
“Your grandparents. They are in China.”
“Who are the two girls?” Eric asks again.
“They are your cousins. They are daughters of your uncle and aunt. Look! These are your aunt and uncle. They like saying hello to everyone, so people think they are interesting. Now they’re in China, too,” his mum says.
“Oh, look at my little brother Tommy in the photo. He looks very cute,” Eric says. Tommy is only one year old. When Eric’s parents are busy, Eric always helps them look after Tommy. Eric teaches Tommy how to say his name and plays games with him. “I love my little brother,” Eric says. “I think my grandparents, uncle and aunt love him, too. So can we go to China to visit them this summer? I want to play with my cousins together.” Eric’s mum says yes to him.
“But I can’t remember so many family members, Mum. Can you draw a family tree with me?” Eric asks.
“Sure,” his mum says. Then they take out coloured pens and start drawing.
