回答问题
[跨生物学科] Do you know what the world's tallest animal is? Yes, the answer is the giraffe. But how do they sleep and drink?
You may think it's difficult for them to sleep, but they have no such problems because giraffes don't often stop for a snooze (打盹). As they are so tall—the males (雄性) can grow up to 18 feet (英尺). Giraffes in the wild actually have the shortest sleep of all mammals (哺乳动物), about half an hour every day. When they sleep, they seldom lie down and sleep for only minutes at a time, since it's difficult for them to get up again and it's dangerous in the wild. But the giraffe in the zoo sleeps around 4.6 hours per day, mostly at night. It usually sleeps lying down.
Drinking water may cause problems for them because their long necks make it difficult to reach the ground. To drink, they must spread (分开) their legs in an uncomfortable way. However, this makes it easier for other animals like Africa's big cats to catch them. As a result, they get most of their water by eating plants. They only need to drink water every few days.
Unluckily, because of the pollution and humans killing, more and more giraffes are in danger now.
