典例微课 4 nothing but 的用法
nothing but 意为“只有；只是”。主要用法如下：
1. 后接名词或名词短语。
I found nothing but an old table in the room.
房间里我只发现了一张旧桌子。
2. 当 nothing but 后接不定式时，如果主句的动词是 do 的某种形式或情态动词时，那么 to 可以省略。
Last evening I did nothing but watch a movie.
昨晚我除了看了一部电影，什么也没做。
3. nothing but to do sth 常用于 want, like, decide, hope, wish, need 等可跟不定式的动词后面。
