At sunrise in a fishing port of eastern Spain, several fishing boats have already set out. These fishermen were hunting for fish, crabs, shrimps and plastic bottles.
They were working for EcoAlf, a local clothing company. Since July, the company has been working with the fishermen to pick up plastic rubbish in the Mediterranean(地中海). The rubbish will be used to make fashionable(时尚的) clothes.
“Where others see rubbish, we see raw material,” said Javier Goyeneche, president of EcoAlf. “We're showing that through recycling, we are able to create fashion.” EcoAlf was founded in 2010. The Spanish company now sells its clothes made from rubbish in big cities around the world. Goyeneche said the clothes had been very popular in the US, Japan and a couple of European countries.
“People really love it,” Goyeneche added. “Today's customers are showing more and more interest in environmental protection. Besides, clothes made from rubbish are very light. They are really comfortable and cheap.”
