Ⅲ 阅读理解。
Being with family is an important part of Christmas celebrations. However, many people are not able to see their family because they live too far away. There are a lot of parties for people who can't go home for Christmas, to make sure nobody is lonely.
This year my friend held a party at her house in Beijing on Christmas Eve. She invited people from many different countries. They brought some food or drink that people from their country have at Christmas. I was excited to try all the different food, and also make something Australian to add to the dinner. It is summer in Australia at the moment, so fruit is a popular Christmas food.
I decided to make a mango and avocado (牛油果) salad, because that is something for Christmas at home. Another Australian lady made sausage rolls—delicious meat wrapped in pastry (馅饼皮). A German man made a potato salad, while an Italian lady make pasta. There was French bread, tasty cheese, and Belgian chocolate. We also ate pizza, roast chicken, lasagna (意大利千层饼), olives and salami (意大利香肠). It was a great feast!
A Columbian brought a special drink to share with everyone and another Columbian lady was teaching people how to dance the Salsa! At midnight everybody hugged and wished each other a merry Christmas. After that we sang and danced to Christmas Carols (圣诞颂歌).
While I missed being with my family, it was nice to meet some new people, try some new food and celebrate Christmas in Beijing.
