In tenth grade, only 26 percent of teens say they love school—although 65 percent of parents with tenth graders think their kids love.
So how can parents make them enjoy it? Nagging (唠叨) is useless. The research suggests that the key for parents is to encourage kids not to depend on their parents too much. That’s to say, a more effective way is to encourage kids to make their own plans and to just support them as they carry them out.
Parents probably should give up a little bit of control and give more support. It’s useful to ask: Will this help my children learn to do this on their own? Then, kids are helped to develop better work habits, pick up some time-management skills, and finally really enjoy learning to reach a goal.
