Changing seasons, changing moods(情绪)
If you find yourself feeling a little less cheerful than you were when days are going from summer to autumn, it's not your imagination; there is a science-backed reason that you're more likely to feel down in the cooler months.
"It's real," said Kathryn Roecklein, associate professor in the University of Pittsburgh. "The changes don't always affect(影响) everyone in the same way," she added. "But seasonal mood changes often include less energy, feeling less social, losing interest in favourite activities and changes in sleep—you may have trouble sleeping or want to sleep more than usual."
There are a lot of reasons why our moods tend to change with the season, but a big factor is ▲. "The hours of a day, which are shorter in winter and longer in summer, are the main reason," said Roecklein. Sunset is on its way to getting earlier and earlier as soon as autumn begins, so it's not surprising if you feel those mood changes around the same time.
One key point to remember about the "winter blues" is that it's NOT something we cannot overcome(克服). Here are a few things you can do. First, get yourself bathed in the sun. A walk outside in the sun in the morning will surely make you feel better. Second, eat right. Try more fruit and vegetables, and drink plenty of water. Besides, make time for your friends. It is said that a good chat with your best friends makes your day.
