Ⅳ. 阅读理解
Cooking is like a warm hug that connects hearts. My mother always says, “The best memories are made in the kitchen.” Because of her, I enjoy cooking. It’s a special way to show care for my family and friends. Every weekend, we cook together, laughing and sharing stories. The sound of sizzling (滋滋响的) oil, the smell of fresh herbs, and the joy of tasting our dishes make me feel loved.
One of my favourite memories is making dumplings with my mother. During Chinese New Year, our kitchen becomes busy and happy. Mum teaches me how to fold the dumpling wrappers perfectly. “The secret is to fill them with love,” she smiles. I still remember the first time I made a dumpling — it looked funny, but Mum said it tasted great! Now, whenever I see dumplings, I think of those cozy winter days with her.
My mother also loves trying food from other countries. Last year, she learned to make sushi from a Japanese friend. “Food is a language everyone understands,” she told me. We even made Italian pasta together! Cooking new recipes feels like travelling the world without leaving home.
Dumpling Recipe
Ingredients: flour, water, minced pork, cabbage, salt, soy sauce.
Instructions:
First, mix flour and water to make dough.
Then, chop (剁) cabbage and mix it with pork and salt.
Next, roll the dough into small circles.
After that, fill each circle with the pork mix and fold it.
Finally, boil the dumplings for 10 minutes.
Thanks to my mother, I’ve learned that cooking is more than just making food — it’s about sharing love and creating memories. Every dish tells a story, and every meal brings us closer. Let’s keep cooking and caring!
