D
For the people in Dahuangba village in Yunnan, wild Asian (亚洲的) elephants used to be a big trouble. The village is near the forest where elephants live. Villagers often saw these big animals eating their crops (庄稼). Some even had scary times, like when elephants shook (摇晃) their cars and they had to stay inside. It was fun for the elephants, but really scary for the villagers.
Because of this, many villagers didn't like the elephants before. But now things are changing. There are new tools to help, like apps that can tell when elephants are coming, and a special team watching the elephants' movements. There are also signs on the roads. When elephants are close, the signs tell people to keep away, not to go through, not to take pictures, and never to scare the elephants.
Villager Tao Daqiang said the elephants often come to the farmland, especially in autumn, because they know where the good food is. This is a big problem because the village is close to the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve, which is a big forest and one of the elephants' homes.
Tao said almost everyone in the village has met the elephants. He thinks the best way for people and elephants to live together is to stay away from each other as much as possible. After all, meeting a wild elephant is never easy.
