Ⅱ. 任务型阅读
[动物特征] Do you know seahorses? They are famous for their curly tails and the horse - like head. Seahorses are a special kind of sea fish. Let's take a closer look at the world of them.
The seahorse is a small fish and people can find it in many waters around the world. It can be as small as a peanut(花生) or as large as a tennis shoe. Seahorses have many colours, and some can even change colours to match the environment. They are the slowest swimmers among fish. Their only way to push themselves forward is by using a tiny fin(鳍) on their backs. Often, seahorses hold onto plants with their tails for a faster trip!
Humans are the greatest danger to seahorses. Seahorses feed on tiny fish and plankton(浮游生物), but chemical (化学的) pollution from human activities harms(损害) the food of seahorses. And the climate(气候) change makes the ocean warmer, and this can make a difference in their breathing and appetite(食欲). What's worse, seahorses are poor swimmers, so they have trouble running away from polluted(被污染的) areas.
However, the seahorse trade (贸易) is more serious than these dangers. Over 30 million seahorses are caught and killed each year for use in medicine. If we don't do something to protect them, seahorses could die out by about 2050, but there is still time to save them.
5. What are seahorses known for? (不超过 10 个词)
6. How can seahorses push themselves forward? (不超过 10 个词)
7. What is the biggest danger to seahorses according to the text? (不超过 5 个词)
