I used to believe courtesy(礼貌) was a thing of the past. Seldom have I met a 16 person in this modern time.
Recently, I had to 17 my thinking when I came face to face with such a person. I went to a café with two of my 18 . It was crowded with the usual loud crowd and we had to climb a steep(陡峭的) flight of stairs in order to find a/an 19 table. After enjoying coffee and snacks, we walked down the stairs, which made climbing down only possible in a 20 line, without any space for another to either climb up or come down.
While I was in the middle of my climbing down, a 21 entered the main entrance of the café, right before the staircase. I was sure I’d be 22 roughly by this man who wants to go up in a hurry. I came down as fast as I could, holding on to the banister(栏杆). My daughters were already down, 23 me worriedly, hoping I would reach them 24 the stranger started up the stairs.
Nearly reaching them, I noticed him still standing near the 25 . I reached my daughters and passed the 26 at the entrance door which he kept holding open. I looked back and saw 27 going up the stairs, two at a time. I told my daughters about it and all three of us felt 28 that we didn’t even thank the polite gentleman who was actually holding the door open for us ladies to pass through before going up.
We enjoyed him for 29 , waiting for us to come down before going up himself and also holding the door open for us to go out. Such well-mannered people are 30 to find these days. Till today, I remember this gentleman and hope to have more people like him.
