一、阅读理解
I never paid any attention to the girl. She was so common, with a big and dark face and small eyes that never seemed to open. Her grades were also poor, and the words she wrote were messy and hard to read. All the teachers paid little attention to her. Her seat was in the last row, near the corner, as if she were in her own small, silent world.
One day in class, I let the students study on their own while I walked around to answer their questions. When I went to the last row, I suddenly smelled a fragrance(香气) of flowers, thick and sweet.
After searching, I found a small white flower, like a white butterfly, falling in her hair. It was gardenia, my favourite flower. I couldn't help bowing my head to her and said "Hi". Hearing my voice, she looked up at me in surprise. When she saw a smile in my eyes, her face quickly turned red and she closed her mouth in embarrassment. At that moment, she smiled beautifully. For the rest of the time, I found her sitting upright and seriously doing the test. She even raised her hand to ask me a question she didn't understand.
The next day I found a gardenia was in my textbook. I guessed it was from her. Looking at her, I met her smiling eyes. I smiled back at her to show my thanks. She was nervous, and then smiled widely. The other students didn't know why and just laughed.
We kept the secret between us. And what surprised me was that she became much more lively, loved to sing and dance, and her classmates also liked her. Her grades improved so rapidly that all the teachers who taught her could no longer ignore her. A few years later, she surprisingly entered a famous university.
Sometimes, you don't need a whole garden; just a gardenia flower is enough for a lifetime.
