Mr and Mrs Brennan lived on a farm in Ireland. They had three children,Lara,Colin and Dylan. The children were very helpful. They looked after the animals and grew vegetables.
One day,three children asked their father to buy ponies for them to look after the animals. But Mr Brennan didn't have enough money. So he wanted his children to have a competition and chose the winner. Mr Brennan gave the children some flower seeds and wanted to see who has the best flower.
The children put their seeds in a pot. Every day they looked after the seeds very carefully. They watered their flowers when the soil was too dry. They put their plants in a warm and sunny place to make sure no insects were eating their flowers.
Two weeks later,there were no plants in the pots. Three weeks later,there were still no plants. But Colin and Dylan had an idea.
Two months later,Colin and Dylan showed their parents beautiful flowers. But in Lara's pot there was no flower. But Mum said,“Lara,you're the winner. All the seeds are bad.”
