Ⅳ.阅读表达
Snacks become an important part of the UK's food. People in Britain no longer eat at a table or at meal times: They eat snacks when they're doing other things. Kids eat sweets (甜食) on the way to and from school. Office workers eat a sandwich at their desks. In the street, you can see people are snacking.
Although snacks are delicious, the snack culture is bad for British people's health. Obesity (肥胖) has grown 300% over the past 20 years. Although rising (上升的) obesity is a big problem around the world, in the UK the rate (速度) is rising faster than almost anywhere else. Most of Europe's fat children are British.
Clearly, eating lots of junk food is not good for us, but now doctors say that snacking all day, whether it's healthy or junk food, is the real problem. They say that snacking makes us even hungrier because it is bad for the body's ability to burn fat (燃脂能力). It can make obesity and tooth problems. So what is the answer? It seems that we should go back to having three meals a day, with no snacks in between. That's something to remember the next time you want to have a piece of chocolate.
1. What do British eat when they're doing other things?
2. What does the writer think of the snack culture?
3. What is the growing rate of obesity over the past 20 years?
4. Why do the doctors say snacking all day is the real problem?
5. If you like snacking, how do you plan to give up the bad habit?
