Who’s your best friend? How did you become friends? Why do you feel so happy when playing with him or her? Friendship is a wonderful thing. There is, in fact, surprising science (科学) behind it.
Scientists believe friendship has something to do with chemicals (化学物质)! When you enjoy doing something with others, such as singing, dancing, or playing a game, your body will make a hormone (荷尔蒙). It makes you feel happy and wonderful.
When you experience (经历) something challenging (有挑战性的), your body will make more of this hormone. If you ride a roller coaster (坐过山车) with your friends, you might find that you feel even closer to them.
When playing with friends, your body will make another chemical. It can make you feel relaxed (放松的). This will help you eat and sleep better. People who have good friends can live 3.7 years longer than those who have no friends.
