D Little animals tell great stories 有关小动物之间的友情，你了解多少？
Almost every child loves good animal stories. Charlotte’s Web (《夏洛的网》) is one. The novel (小说) came out in 1952 in the US. Animals in it tell us about life and friendship.
John Arable owns a farm. His pig gives birth to some piglets (小猪). One of them is too small. John wants to kill it out of mercy (出于怜悯).
But his 8 - year - old daughter Fern stops him. She keeps it as a pet. Then she names it Wilbur.
Life becomes sweet for Wilbur. Fern looks after him very well. She washes him and plays with him. Wilbur is clever. He can always find out new things. He likes Fern very much.
But weeks later, he has to leave Fern for her uncle Homer Zuckerman’s farm.
In the beginning, Fern often visits Wilbur. But as she grows older, she seldom visits him. Wilbur gets lonely with no friends. Luckily, he makes friends with Charlotte (the spider) and other animals.
But soon bad news comes.
Wilbur will become Homer’s Christmas dinner! With the help of Charlotte and her web, Wilbur gets another chance (机会) to live. He also becomes the most famous pig in the village.
