五、阅读理解。[2024保定竞秀一模]
人与自我——多彩、安全、有意义的学校生活
It was the last day of the school year. The classroom was filled with excitement. When our teacher, Mr. Johnson, walked in, holding a CD player, everyone's face lit up with a smile. We knew that this wasn't going to be another normal day, but a special one.
“Please calm down and sit,” said Mr. Johnson. “I'm glad everyone's here for the final reading test of the year.” When everyone cried, Mr. Johnson laughed, saying it was just a joke. Then he reminded us that we still had a job to do. “You need to clean out your desks and put all your things into your backpacks,” he added gently.
As we began our task, Mr. Johnson turned on the CD player. Some of us started singing along with the music, and others were dancing around their desks while they were cleaning them out. Even Mr. Johnson showed us a few dance steps, making everyone laugh heartily. After we finished cleaning, someone asked, “When is break time?” Mr. Johnson took out some balls and started playing with them. Suddenly, he let the balls drop and said, “Break time starts...now!”
Just as we were about to rush out, our headmaster, Mrs. Miller, appeared at the door. “Mr. Johnson!” she cried out. There followed a moment of silence as we thought, “Mr.Johnson might be in trouble.” However, to our surprise, Mrs. Miller couldn't help but laugh at the sight and let us enjoy our break.
During break time, Mr. Johnson surprised us with another treat. He went to the cafe and came back with ice cream for everyone. We all cheered for him!
As we walked back to the classroom, we passed Mrs. Miller's office. Someone joked, “Don't play with the ice cream, Mr. Johnson!” We all laughed together...

答案:
1.C 2.A 3.D 【解析】推理判断题。由第四段最后一句“However, to our surprise, Mrs. Miller couldn’t help but laugh at the sight and let us enjoy our break.”可知,校长看到当时的情景忍不住笑了,之后走开让学生们享受休息时间。由此可知她是善良的。故选D。4.B 【解析】推理判断题。由本文第一句“It was the last day of the school year.”
Paying for bus rides with plastic usually makes people think of plastic bus cards. But one Indonesian city has decided to accept recyclable plastic waste instead of money for city buses.
Surabaya, Indonesia's second largest city, lying on the eastern end of the country's main island Java, made this decision in April 2018. Now, locals can pay for their bus rides by putting plastic cups or bottles directly on the bus. A two - hour bus ride costs 10 plastic cups or 5 plastic bottles.
Indonesia is the second largest ocean plastic polluter, producing up to 2.4 million tons of plastic waste into the oceans every year, according to a report. Only in Surabaya, nearly 400 tons of plastic waste is produced every day. The head of Surabaya's transportation department (交通部门) said, “With this decision, we hope to raise public awareness about the environment, especially people's awareness about plastic waste.”
In Surabaya, each city bus can collect up to 550 pounds of plastic bottles and cups every day. The collected bottles are sold to recycling companies and the money earned goes toward supporting the bus companies and providing money for green spaces in the city. This is certainly turning rubbish into a national treasure.
The decision is part of the city's purpose to become plastic waste - free. In order to encourage local people to take buses, the city also added new Surabaya buses. The new buses are air - conditioned, comfortable and easy for elderly and disabled passengers to get on and off.
The program is well received. People in Surabaya said, “Trash(垃圾) doesn't pile up at home because we can just make good use of it. It is a win - win situation.”
This type of program can be a model for other cities worldwide and encourage citizens to recycle their plastic waste.
