二、点点认为《男孩与钉子》的故事更有意义。阅读点点推荐的故事,完成下列任务。
主题:人与自我——做人与做事 话题:控制坏脾气
体裁:记叙文 难度:★★★★
Once there was a little boy who had a bad temper(脾气). His father gave him a bag of nails(钉子) and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence(栅栏). The first day the boy drove 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, he learnt to control his anger. He hammered fewer and fewer nails. He found it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it happily. His father asked him to pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took the boy to the fence and said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. The pain from a verbal(言语的) blow(打击) is just as bad as the pain from a physical blow. It won’t matter how many times you say ‘I’m sorry’. The wound(伤害) is still there.”
